Olappamanna Subramanyan Nampoothri

Olappmanna

Olappmanna heralded progressive ideologies in Malayalam poetry. His first poem got published in 1942. 'Varinellu','Suphala', 'Eheesoonari', 'Dukhamavuka Sukham','Olichu Pokunna Njan', 'Ilathal am', 'Kilungunna Kaiyamam', 'Kulambadi', 'Kalpana' and 'Veena' are his collections of poetry. Other works are 'Theethailam', 'Paanchali', 'Nangemakkutty' (Khandakavyas), 'Aanamuthu' (Mukkavitha), 'Amba' (Aattakkavitha) and 'Jalakappakshi' (selected poems). His 'Nizhalana' bagged the Odakkuzhal award of Guruvayoorappan Trust in 1988 and Kendra Sahithya Academy award in 1989. 'Ashareerikal' was given the Madras Government prize for best Malayalam poem. 'Kathakavithakal' got the Kerala Sahithya Academy award for the year1966.He passed away on 10th April 2000. C.N Ahammad Moulavi

C.N.Ahamad Moulavi was born in 1905 at Edathanattukara.He was first Translated Quran to Malayalam.He was one of the famous social reformers besides Muslims. Karippaparambil Jacob Thomas 

    

K.J.Thomas was  a freedom fighter and former M.L.A of Kanjhirapalli. He migrated to Mannarkkad. He was firstly started Rubber estate in Mannarkkad.He was also brother of Akkamma cheriyan (Kerala jaanzi rani).He established Sahrudaya public Library in Mannarkkad.

Kalladi cheriya Kunjhayammu sahib

Njaralathu Rama Poduval was an exponent of the ashtapadi/sopanam music form practised in Kerala in southern India. A recipient of the Kendra Sahitya Academy award, he hailed from a rugged village called Thiruvaazhaamkunnu in Mannarkkad.Born into an Ambalavasi family on 16 February 1916, Poduval had his schooling till the fifth standard and moved on to practice the idakka and the chenda. He inherited the art of playing the edakka from his uncle, Njeralathu Karunakara Pothuval, and went on to establish an indelible mark in this field.He also practiced instruments like the veena from Parappanaatu Rama Kuruppu. He practised Carnatic music from the Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar besides Kodikunnath Madhavan Nair. His experience in Kerala Kalamandalam helped him in gaining knowledge in Kathakali music as well.Poduval married Lakshmikutty Amma at the age of 41. By the age of 61 he became the father of seven children - Janakikutty, Krishna Vijayan, Gopalakrishnan, Anjaneyan, Gaayathri, Hari Govindan, and Aananda Sivaraman. After his marriage, he lived at Palakkode village near Angadipuram under the patronage of the chief priest of Thirumandhamkunnu temple at Angadipuram, Pandhalakkode Sankaran Namboodiri. Poduval died on August 13, 1996.Rama Poduval rejuvenated the Sopanam style of traditional Kerala temple music and enthralled the music lovers of Kerala for decades. He brought out this art from within the walls of the temple and made this art popular among the people. There are six different documentary films based on his life and music. 'Sopaanam', his biography in Malayalam, is also implemented as study material for university students in Kerala. The awards he received also include fellowships from both government and cultural organisations. 

Kongasseri Krishnan:-

              Kongasseri was one of the famous Communist leader from Mannarkkad. He became MLA of Mannarkkad constituency in the first assembly election subsequent to foundation of Kerala state. Kongasseri was the secretary of “Valluvanad Kendra Kala samithi”. He haswritten the poem “Kathunna Kannukal” (Buring eyes) as to heading. He died on 13^th February 1976.

KPS Payyanedam is a famous dramatist and orator. He was written and directed more than fifty dramas. He writes Novels, Short Stories and articles. He published ten books. He received G. Sankara pillai memorial Award in 1998 and DALA (Dubai) Award 1987 for best scripts. He received K.R. Narayanan memorial Karmasreshta Award for the best cultural activist 2008. He Directed an Arabic Short film (a first attempt in Kerala) namely “AJINIHATHUL AMAL” (Wings of expectations) in 2012 for the Education Department of Kerala (SSA Palakkad) His Various dramas are even now enacting all over Kerala and abroad. Dramas have won prizes in various drama competitions several times. He is famous for his excellent speeches. He actively participates in various cultural and social programmes. Now he is a member of Kunjan Nambiar Smaraka Samithi, Killikkurussi, State committee member of NANMA (organisation of Malayalam artists) and Dist. President of Kerala Madhya Nirodhana Samithi. He retired from Calicut University as Asst: Registar in 2008. 

G P Ramachandran

G.P ,Famous Film Critic and Activist .He graduated in Mathematics from St Joseph's College, Calicut and got his post graduation in Malayalam Language and Literature from the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. G P Ramachandran is a film and television critic and is published regularly in the Malayalam press. His talks are broadcast through All India Radio and television channels. He has been invited several times to submit papers in different universities and colleges of the state. He has been selected as the best critic of the year (2006) at the 54th National Film Awards. He has also won numerous other State and National Awards for his writing. At present he is a member of the general council of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy and Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi. He also an employer in SBI

 

Bhavana radhakrishnan

Bhavana radhakrishnan is one of the famous singer in Malayalam film industry .She was born in alanallure in 1961.She was get Kerala Govt best singer award in 1998 by the film Kaliyattam. She also best classical singer in South India.She take many Musical programs in India and abroad.

Prof. P.E.D Namboodiri

 P.E.D Namboodiri was born in Alanellure. He was great Orator and great left thinker. He was also Malayalam Lecture in M.E.S Kalladi College Mannarkkad , He was wrote many books .He was also studied Russian Language.He was president of sahrudaya public Library Mannarkkad in 1996-2006 period. He was died in 2006. 

T.R Thiruvizhamkunnu

                     T.R Thiruvizhamkunnu ,one of the famous Literary Men in Mannarkkad.He is living in Kacheriparambu. He wrote many Books.He is also one of the greatest Literary Critics.

Sreedaran Mannarkkad

           Dr. A. Jayakrishnan  was former Vice Chancellor Of University of Kerala, . He was born in Mannarkkad in 1953.His early education held in K.T.M High School. After his higher education held in Many places. B.Sc in Chemistry, University of Calicut in1973, First Class.M.Sc in Chemistry, University of Calicut in1975, First Class, First Rank.Ph.D in Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 1980.
